Why not just practice with our local High School, Jr High, or IKWF wrestling program?
At our training facility we think you should participate with your local in season wrestling programs. Our Team Poeta Wrestling Club is a supplement to the program you're already with.  Our youth program will be directly affiliated with the IKWF team the Wrestling Factory who are holding their practices out of the Poeta Training Center.  At our club we will provide year round training with some of the best wrestlers in Illinois and a world class coaching staff, filled with State champs, NCAA All-Americans, NCAA champs and Olympians that you won't be able to find at your local program.

How will practices be structured?
Every wrestler in their particular class should be training for the same events. So a big focus will be on peaking our athletes for the next event. Practices will primarily be focused around drills, technique, situational wrestling, and live wrestling. In addition to our wrestling training, we will also utilize strength training (for the high school level), conditioning, stretching, and other aspects of fitness that are key to wrestling success. A game will be a short part of almost every practice. When a little fun can be a part of practice, the hard work gets done better.

Why should you train year round?
To be a successful wrestler, or any athlete, you need to dedicate a large amount of the year to training. It's very difficult to reach your goals only wrestling during the school season, from November to February. Pre-season and post-season training, freestyle and greco roman training, and the wrestling summer camps, are where wrestlers make the biggest strides heading into the regular season. The off-season training is key to reaching in-season goals.
What will my wrestler need for practice?
Please have your wrestler come prepared. Most important is dressed in workout gear, wrestling shoes and with head gear. We have water fountains, but a water bottle is recommended. We also have showers for the wrestlers to utilize at the end of practice if they would prefer to shower at the club instead of at home. Please have them bring a towel, soap and change of clothes.

How many times per week do we practice and what times?
Most programs have practice 3-4 times per week. We usually have two practices per night and during the week our practices run between 4:45pm - 8pm. The actual time of practice depends on the wrestler. (Usually by age and/or weight)

Are parents allowed at practice?
Our training facility will not allow parents in the practice room. Our goal is to help each wrestler achieve their individual goals in wrestling, and when training we want as little distractions as possible. Having parents in the room can at times cause added pressure on the wrestlers trying to get work done. The  facility has a comfortable waiting area while waiting for your wrestler to finish practice.  You can view practice from the waiting area.

Do we offer payment plans, scholarships or family discounts?
We take pride in offering wrestling to everyone, no matter what your circumstances are. We offer payment plans for each program. Scholarships are offered to those eligible. Family discounts are $100 off for each sibling per program. Please email us to inquire. Credits will be offered if you have to cancel a session.
